FLEET MANAGEMENT LTD, ON BOARD VESSEL MT TRIDENT STAR  

 

From April 2009 to October 2009

Position: - Electrical Engineer

   

 Job Description:

• Designed and developed a PC based shipboard monitor and control system for marine application.
• Design and analyze electric power generation and distribution system for marine system.
• Installed new 3-phase electrical motor (440v, 60 Hz, 75kw, 125kg) for modification of water pumping system.
• Responsible for maintenance and proper functioning of sensors used for machinery safeties such as temperature sensors(PT100),electrical pressure sensors(maker-Danfoss elec.),float switches, tank level switches/gauges.
• Main Diesel Generator Alternator (Daihatsu-720kVA/600kw at 900RPM) maintenance, regular checks for electrical faults.

Maintaining alternator winding with good insulation, regular checks for all electrical connection tightness, rotor/stator condition, checking clearance between stator and rotor, silicon diodes equipped on windings which converts AC to Dc.

• Carrying out starter panel routines/inspection on regular basis such as cleaning contactor contacts, checking contactor spring operation, tightness of all electric cables, checking electric cable temperature using heat gun.

•  Designing, calculation and installing lighting system for minimum consumption of power and minimum usage of available materials.
•  Responsible for transformer (440v/220v) maintenance, efficiency,

rectifying transformer faults, regular transformer insulation checks for smooth operation.

•  Inspection of electrical starter panels (440v/220v/110v) of all machineries (electric motors, pumps, heaters.coolers) on regular basis for any abnormality, proper functioning and taking corrective measures.
•  Assisting chief engineer in troubleshooting problems.
•  Maintaining 12V/24V lead acid batteries used for back-up purpose.

• Responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting of Automated composite boiler (maker-Aalborg industries group, Boiler type-mission TMOC, work press:-7kg/cm²). Checking its electrical parts such as electric burner, boiler safety switches, starter panel’s transformers, rewired some wires for better operation as advised by the company. Checking operation/fault finding of sensors (low water level switch, high steam press switch).
• Responsible for smooth operation and maintenance of Refrigeration system for food storage (maker-Ushio REEFERS, China). Including checking of gas leakage, condenser cleaning, temperature controlled thermostat, AC blower and Belts greasing, evaporator, thermo expansion valve functioning. Reporting to chief engineer of the same.
• Keep record of all the spare parts, inventory of available parts and make entry in a log sheet to avoid misuse of materials.

Showed complete hard work and dedication towards my work as a trainee engineer, assisted seniors in troubleshooting problems, shared my ideas about safety measures, improvement in work with them.
