- As Master and Dredging Advisor to Indian Petrochemicals Limited, Dahej, Gujarat I dredged out a quantity of 5million cubic metres of material from Narmada River in the West Coast of India, to make a Channel, Turning Circle and Berth Pocket for IPCL Jetty, 14km long to a depth of 14m below the waterline.
- This job was completed by me as Captain of a Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger of 8000cu.m hopper capacity, under very strong winds and tide conditions, well before the estimated time limit for which I was awarded a challenging job of Handling the Dangerous Cargo Terminal of IPCL and help them in piloting their vessels from sea to jetty
- I became Terminal Manager of IPCL Jetty and planned out Daily Shipping movements, accurate tidal calculations as this place experiences very strong tides and winds.
- I also started piloting their dangerous cargo vessels loaded with LPG, NAPTHA, XYLENES, and various other corrosive and hazardous cargoes , berthing /unberthing them, during day light and dark hours, safely and efficiently even with under powered tugs being used as assistance
- My piloting techniques in tidal ports became well known to others in Gujarat, and I was often invited to pilot in/out the vessels (bulk carriers, MBC, tankers, containers of all tonnages)of Porbandar/Muldwarka/Pipavav ports too.
- Due to a vast knowledge of dredging, I was given opportunities by various parties/shipping companies to salvage their vessels stuck in shallow waters of Gulf of Khambhat, Gulf of Kutch and Kandla port, with the help of 32 tonne bollard pull tugs only.
